Munir's Mediation: Pakistan's Army Chief Allegedly Brokers Iran-Saudi Understanding
Pakistan's Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir has allegedly played a key role in brokering an understanding between Iran and Saudi Arabia to prevent further attacks on the Gulf kingdom, according to a recent report.
The reported agreement was reached in late March through Munir's mediation, with the joint oil transport venture linked to Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) chief Ahmad Vahidi being used as leverage in the discussions.
Munir highlighted the importance of the joint oil transport venture, which has reportedly been moving Iranian oil to Islamabad since late last year and has generated significant revenue, especially during US restrictions on Iranian oil exports.
The report claimed that Munir warned Tehran that further attacks on Saudi Arabia could put the arrangement at risk, with Saudi Arabia facing repeated attacks during the early phase of the conflict but remaining largely unaffected after the understanding was reached.
