Murphy Oil Surpasses Quarterly Earnings Expectations with Strong Commodity Prices and Operational Outperformance
Murphy Oil Corporation announced its financial and operating results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026. Net income attributable to Murphy was $232.2 million, compared to $22 million in the same period last year.
The increase was driven by stronger commodity prices and continued operational outperformance. The company produced 169,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOEPD), at the upper end of quarterly guidance primarily due to strong well performance at Tupper Montney.
Murphy also announced an oil discovery at the Bubale-1X exploration well in Block CI-709 offshore Côte d'Ivoire, with 100 feet of net pay across two reservoirs. The company completed drilling operations and initiated completion activities at the Chinook #8 development well in the Gulf of America.
