Naftogaz Group has initiated explorations for potential long-term supplies of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Canada. During President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Canada, Naftogaz signed a memorandum with Kino Aski LNG to assess demand in Europe and supply options.

The parties will evaluate the use of terminal infrastructure in Klaipėda, as well as other European terminals. Naftogaz has reserved capacity in Klaipėda for 2033-2044. The memorandum does not constitute a contract for gas purchase but rather an assessment of potential supplies.

Naftogaz's Acting Chair, Serhiy Fedorenko, stated that exploring new sources and routes will give Ukraine more choice when procuring gas on competitive terms and enable a flexible response to the country's needs.
