Nagaland Connects to National Gas Grid via Dergaon-Dimapur Pipeline
Nagaland has become the latest state to join India's National Gas Grid after Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL) commissioned the Dergaon, Dimapur pipeline. This milestone marks a significant step in strengthening the natural gas infrastructure of the North Eastern Region and integrating it with the country's emerging gas-based economy.
The commissioning of the pipeline on Tuesday has connected Nagaland to the National Gas Grid for the first time, opening up opportunities for increased availability of clean and reliable natural gas. This will enable industrial, commercial, and other consumers in the state to access a steady supply of natural gas.
The Dergaon, Dimapur pipeline will facilitate the evacuation and monetisation of approximately 1,10,000 SCM (Standard Cubic Meters) of natural gas per day from ONGC’s Jorhat Asset. This is expected to reduce LNG imports by an equivalent quantity and generate an estimated economic value of around Rs 300 crore annually.
