Nagaland Connects to National Gas Grid via Dergaon-Dimapur Pipeline
Nagaland has become the latest state to connect to both the North East Gas Grid and the National Gas Grid, following the commissioning of the Dergaon-Dimapur Pipeline.
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri described this development as a major milestone for the region.
The new pipeline will enable the use of over 1 lakh standard cubic meters per day of natural gas produced by ONGC at Jorhat, reducing gas flaring and replacing an equivalent volume of imported liquefied natural gas (LNG).
This could unlock economic value worth hundreds of crores annually, improving energy security in the region while creating opportunities for industries, transportation, households, and the power sector.
