Nan Ya Plastics Shares Surge as Electronic Materials Prices More Than Double This Year
Nan Ya Plastics Corporation confirmed that its electronic materials products have seen cumulative price increases exceeding 100% this year. The company's shares surged to NT$207.5 (approximately $6.48) on August 14 after a price-increase letter circulated in the market, sparking speculation about a blanket 20% hike.
However, Nan Ya clarified that the document was not an official notice and that actual adjustments were made through phased negotiations with individual clients rather than a one-time increase.
The company noted that fiberglass cloth faces the most severe shortage, with copper foil in a similar situation, constraining copper clad laminate supply. The tight supply of raw materials has led to increased market inquiries and order placement ratios directed at Nan Ya.
Nan Ya stated that the four major US cloud service providers are expanding capital expenditure, driving strong demand for mid-to-high-end electronic materials, which is creating a structural supply-demand gap. The company expects second-half profitability to exceed the first half, with full-year earnings potentially surpassing one share capital.
