Natural Gas Poised for Big Growth in Canada
The natural gas industry in Canada is poised for significant growth, according to industry experts. While oil sands production dominates the spotlight, demand for natural gas is on the rise.
Rising LNG exports and increased electrification are driving consumption higher, with a projected increase of 51 billion cubic feet per day over the next decade, ending in 2035. This would see total North American use top 181 bcf a day.
A growing portion of this demand is coming from power generation, particularly in Alberta and the U.S. heartland. The need for more natural gas will also be bolstered by new oilsands production and the growth of data centers.
