Navitas Keeps Sea Lion Project on Track Amid Falklands Tensions
Navitas Petroleum is moving forward with its Sea Lion project in the North Falkland Basin. The company plans to begin drilling operations in early 2027 and expects first oil production by the first half of 2028.
The project's development schedule remains on track despite increased political tensions related to the Falkland Islands. Navitas operates Sea Lion together with Rockhopper Exploration, with a total estimated investment of $2.1 million until its development is complete.
As part of the project, the floating production, storage and offloading unit Aoka Mizu will be used to produce up to 55,000 barrels per day. A second FPSO could expand Sea Lion's capacity by an additional 125,000 barrels per day in later phases.
