Navy Cracks Down on Oil Thieves, Recovers 61,000 Litres

The Nigerian Navy has made another significant dent in the operations of oil thieves in Rivers State.

During an operation code-named 'Operation Delta Sentinel', naval personnel from NNS Pathfinder discovered and dismantled three newly established illegal refining sites linked to crude oil theft activities in the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni axis.

The operation resulted in the recovery of approximately 43,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil and 18,000 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) concealed in dugout pits and reservoirs. The total volume of recovered petroleum products is 61,000 litres.

Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, Director of Naval Information, stated that the latest discovery highlights the continued attempts by oil thieves to reactivate and expand their operations despite sustained enforcement efforts.
