Nepal Govt Assures LP Gas Supply Will Return to Normal Within Days
The Nepal government has assured consumers that the supply of cooking liquefied petroleum (LP) gas will return to normal within days, urging households not to panic-buy or stockpile cylinders amid concerns over shortages.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, LP gas imports and distribution currently exceed demand compared to the same period last year.
The ministry is coordinating with stakeholders to balance supply and demand while improving the efficiency of the distribution system. The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has intensified market monitoring, and reforms are being implemented in coordination with the Nepal Oil Corporation and gas industries to make LP gas imports, storage, and distribution more transparent and predictable.
The ministry warned that anyone found creating artificial shortages, engaging in black marketing, violating supply regulations, or causing unnecessary hardship to consumers will face legal action under prevailing laws.
