Nepal's economy has been hit by a mixed bag of challenges and developments. The country's stock market, represented by the NEPSE index, declined by 13.85 points to close at 2,531 after a previous drop of 15.43 points on Wednesday. The decrease in turnover, from Rs 4.198 billion to Rs 4 billion, further indicates weak investor sentiment.

The floods caused by the Bhote Koshi River's disaster are expected to have a substantial impact on Nepal's economy, with estimated reconstruction costs reaching Rs 723.31 billion. Of this amount, Rs 390.62 billion will be required for energy infrastructure restoration alone. The damage to hydropower projects is also significant, affecting 13 plants with a combined capacity of 759 MW.

On the other hand, gold and silver prices have seen an increase in demand due to uncertainty, trading at Rs 305,800 and Rs 4,855 respectively. This could be indicative of investors seeking safe-haven assets amidst market fluctuations.
