Nepal's Seed Certification Centre Exceeds Target, Certifies Over 300 Metric Tonnes of Seeds

The Bagmati Province Seed Quality Control Centre in Hetauda, Nepal, has certified an impressive 331 metric tonnes of seeds in the fiscal year 2025/26. This exceeds its target of 200 metric tonnes by 131 metric tonnes.

The centre certified a variety of seeds, including paddy, wheat, maize, finger millet, potato, and mustard. A total of 179.48 metric tonnes of paddy, 129.29 metric tonnes of wheat, and 19.9 metric tonnes of maize were certified.

Senior crop development officer Rajan Dhakal noted that the volume of certified seed increased after the number of institutions licensed to produce breeder and foundation seed in Bagmati Province rose from 17 to 20.
