Netherlands Ditches Higher Gas Storage Target Amid Price Fears
The Dutch government has announced plans to lower its natural gas stockpiling target in an effort to ease upward pressure on wholesale prices. The move comes amidst the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has driven up energy costs worldwide.
Under the new plan, the Netherlands aims to fill 64% of its storage capacity by October 1st and December 1st. This target is 10 percentage points lower than a previous goal, and follows a call from the European Commission for countries to reduce their filling targets.
