New England Wholesale Electricity Prices Plummet 9% Amid Low Natural Gas Costs
Wholesale electricity prices in New England fell by 9% year-over-year to an average of $54.66 per megawatt-hour (MWh) in July 2026, according to ISO Newswire.
The Real-Time Energy Market saw a decrease from the previous year's average price of $60.36/MWh, while the Day-Ahead Energy Market prices fell by 5% compared to July 2025.
Natural gas prices also decreased significantly in July 2026, down 35.9% from the same period last year at $2.71 per million British thermal units (MMBtu).
