Newmont Shares Rise as Global Uncertainty Boosts Gold Demand
Newmont Corporation (ASX:NEM) saw its ASX securities climb by about 1.5% to AUD 136.73 on July 27, 2026, as global uncertainty sent investors back to gold.
The spot gold price moved above USD 4,100 an ounce, supporting the demand for precious metals. Newmont's second-quarter attributable gold production reached approximately 1.3 million ounces, with seven million ounces of silver and 17,000 tonnes of copper produced during the same period.
The company maintained its full-year guidance of 5.3 million attributable gold ounces and reported a record quarterly free cash flow of USD 2.2 billion.
Newmont's large liquidity position provides resilience, but it still faces risks such as gold price volatility, labour and energy inflation, grades, weather, and operational disruptions.
