Nigeria Aims for 500M Barrel Boost with 2025 Licensing Round
Nigeria's upstream petroleum development has entered a new chapter with the 2025 licensing round conducted by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). The goal is to add 500 million barrels in new reserves and achieve 300,000 barrels per day within three years. For many stakeholders, securing oil pipelines through Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd (TSSNL) operations and maintaining peace in the Niger Delta are crucial for achieving these targets.
The 2025 licensing round saw 143 companies submit 200 bids for 37 out of 50 blocks, with the NUPRC reporting that it aims to harvest an additional 500 million barrels to the national crude oil reserve. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed TSSNL, led by High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (alias Tompolo), to protect Nigeria's oil assets in the Niger Delta region.
Tantita's operations have ensured the security of oil pipelines, allowing for uninterrupted flow and significant reduction in rampant oil theft. The company has become a reliable partner in preserving Nigeria's economic backbone. Analysts emphasize that securing oil infrastructure is essential for sustainable development.
