Nigeria Aims to Add 500 Million Barrels in New Reserves Through Upstream Petroleum Development
Nigeria has set ambitious targets for its upstream petroleum development, aiming to add 500 million barrels in new reserves and 300,000 barrels per day within three years. The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) conducted a licensing round that saw 143 companies submit 200 bids for 37 out of 50 blocks.
The success of this goal depends on more than just commitment to oil production; it requires sustainable oil assets protection, fight against oil theft, and maintaining peace in the Niger Delta. To achieve this, the Federal Government appointed Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd (TSSNL) to protect oil assets and ensure peace and stability in the region.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, as the leader of TSSNL to support the national economy in getting the full benefits of oil resources. The company works in collaboration with other security outfits to secure oil assets and ensure peace and stability in the Niger Delta region.
Tantita's operations have ensured the security of oil pipelines, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of petroleum resources and transforming the oil and gas landscape. Nigeria has been able to expand its oil production quota and significantly cut rampant oil theft with TSSNL's help.
