The price of cooking gas has fallen by 39% nationwide in Nigeria, reaching between N1,100 and N1,650 per kilogramme due to increased supply. This reduction comes after Federal Government interventions that boosted national Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) supply from 11 to 22 days.

In Lagos and Ibadan, consumers now pay between N1,100 and N1,350 per kilogramme, down from a peak of about ₦2,300 in June. The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Managing Director, Adeleye Falade, attributes the price drop to increased supply and reduced transportation costs.

Falade emphasizes that sustaining this reduction requires coordinated action from the Federal Government, regulators, and industry operators. He suggests expanding domestic LPG supply, improving storage and distribution infrastructure, and removing multiple taxes and levies as crucial steps to making cooking gas more affordable and accessible.
