Nigeria Crude Output Surges to Highest Level of Year Amid OPEC Rise
Nigeria's crude oil production surged to its highest level this year in August, reaching 1.573 million barrels per day (bpd), a 2.3% increase from July and its highest monthly output so far in 2026.
The rise, supported by government and private sector investment, security improvements, and asset rehabilitation, puts Nigeria among OPEC members with increasing production levels.
OPEC's latest data shows that across the group, crude oil production increased by 346,000 bpd to 24.081 million bpd in August, from 23.735 million bpd in July.
