Nigeria Develops Domestic Crude Oil Gas Swap Arrangement
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) is working on introducing a domestic crude oil and gas swap arrangement to reduce costs and improve petroleum product availability in the country. According to NUPRC CEO Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, the new arrangement will be coordinated with the Gas Aggregation Company Nigeria (GACN) Limited.
The NUPRC aims to refine the Domestic Crude Supply Obligation (DCSO) framework to improve transparency and efficiency. In June 2023, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited began terminating crude oil swap contracts and paying cash for petrol imports after removing petrol subsidies in May 2023.
