Nigeria Meets OPEC Quota for Fourth Straight Month with 1.68m bpd Production
Nigeria's oil production has seen an increase for the fourth consecutive month, meeting its Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) quota. In August 2026, the country produced 1,677,777 barrels per day (bpd), a 0.4% increase from July's 1.67 million bpd.
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission attributed the modest improvement in production to the resolution of operational challenges at the Erha field, including the Single Buoy Mooring issue. The restoration of normal evacuation and production operations contributed positively to overall output during the month.
The commission stated that production activities across most other producing assets remained relatively stable, with operators sustaining measures aimed at improving efficiency and reducing operational disruptions. According to the NUPRC, the lowest daily crude oil and condensate production recorded in August was 1.64 million bpd, while the highest stood at 1.71 million bpd.
