Nigeria Seeks Seven Percent GDP Growth Hinge on Oil Production Surge
Nigeria's economy is expected to experience a surge in growth this year, with projections ranging from 4.1% to 7%, driven by ongoing structural reforms and oil sector rebound. According to analysts, higher crude oil production will play a critical role in achieving these milestones.
The Federal Government has targeted around 4.68% GDP growth, while domestic groups like the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) hold a more ambitious outlook of up to 7%. However, global economic watchdogs such as the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) project lower growth rates of 4.4% and 4.1%, respectively.
The oil sector remains crucial to Nigeria's economy, accounting for over 80% of its FX earnings. Sustaining investments and increasing exploration activities are critical to achieving the target and boosting the nation's reserves.
