Nigeria Targets $30-50 Billion Offshore Investments by 2030 Amid Improved Oil Sector Reforms
Nigeria's oil sector is projected to attract between $30 billion and $50 billion in offshore investments by 2030, according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). The commission attributes this growth to improved licensing transparency and faster project approvals. Since 2024, the regulator has approved over $57 billion in Field Development Plans, with several projects already advancing to Final Investment Decisions.
The government aims to increase crude oil production to 2 million barrels per day by 2027 and 3 million barrels per day by 2030. To achieve this target, the Niger Delta region must be peaceful and oil infrastructure well secured. The Federal Government has appointed Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd (TSSNL) to protect oil assets in the region.
TSSNL's operations have transformed the oil and gas landscape, allowing Nigeria to expand its oil production quota and significantly cut rampant oil theft. President General of Niger Delta Progressive Alliance, Nse Victor Udoh, attributes the de-escalation of security incidents in the region to pipeline surveillance executed by TSSNL.
