Nigerian Navy Foils Suspected Oil Theft Vessel in Akwa Ibom
The Nigerian Navy has made another significant breakthrough in its fight against crude oil theft, intercepting a vessel suspected of siphoning fuel oil and crude oil from an oil well terminal jacket in Akwa Ibom State.
The operation, carried out under Operation DELTA SENTINEL, led to the arrest of 12 crew members and the seizure of large quantities of suspected stolen petroleum products.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the vessel, MT FILIA, was carrying an estimated 32.82 metric tonnes of fuel oil and 650 metric tonnes of crude oil without the required documentation or lawful authorization.
The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, praised the personnel involved in the operation, noting their professionalism, vigilance, and dedication to eliminating crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism.
