Nigeria's Economic Growth Remains Positive Amid Higher Oil Output
Nigeria's economic growth remains positive, according to a recent assessment by the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
The organisation noted that the country's economy expanded by 3.9 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, with the non-oil sector providing the main support for growth.
Agriculture, manufacturing, construction, trade, finance, and insurance are driving activity outside the petroleum sector, while higher oil output has improved fiscal revenues and foreign exchange inflows.
OPEC also pointed to continued momentum in private-sector activity, with a recent survey indicating modest increases in new orders, output, and employment.
