Nigeria's Oil Output Sees Second Consecutive Monthly Rise
Nigeria's crude oil production has seen a significant increase to 1.49 million barrels per day (mb/d) in April 2026, up from 1.38 mb/d in March, according to data published by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). This marks the second consecutive month of production growth, following a temporary dip in February due to scheduled maintenance at the OML 118 Bonga deepwater field.
The increase was largely driven by stronger output from the Forcados terminal, which increased sharply by 42% month-on-month to 0.25 mb/d. However, Nigeria's crude oil production (excl. condensates) remains below OPEC's quota of 1.50 mb/d and significantly under the FG's revenue benchmark of 1.84 mb/d.
Despite the improvement, Quest MB's analysts expect Nigeria's crude oil production to improve gradually but at a moderate pace, as operational constraints and ageing infrastructure continue to limit a substantial increase in output.
