Nigeria's Oil Production Dips Amid Global Logistics Uncertainty
Nigeria's oil production declined by four percent in July compared to the previous month, despite exceeding its Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) quota for the third consecutive month.
The country produced an average of 1.505 million barrels per day (mbpd) of crude oil and 0.17mbpd of condensate, bringing total daily production to 1.67mbpd.
Operational challenges at the Erha and Akpo fields constrained output, with disruptions contributing significantly to the overall reduction in national crude oil output, according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
The decline comes amid growing uncertainty in global oil logistics, with traffic through the Strait of Hormuz falling sharply due to heightened security risks and negotiations between the United States and Iran.
