Nitrogen Retreats from Spring Highs While Phosphate Costs Stay Firm
U.S. fertilizer prices diverged in August, with five major fertilizers experiencing lower monthly prices and three moving higher.
The biggest drop came from UAN28, which fell by about 7% to $446 per ton, while MAP rose slightly to $960 per ton.
This divergence is crucial for U.S. farmers because fertilizer remains one of the largest variable input costs for corn and other row crops.
Urea averaged $678 per ton in August, down from its spring high of $866 per ton in April.
