NLNG Expands LNG Production Plans Beyond Train 7
The Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) company has announced plans to expand its LNG production beyond the ongoing Train 7 project. The expansion includes preliminary work on Trains 8, 9 and 10.
NLNG Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Adeleye Falade said that while the completion of Train 7 remains a priority, the company has already started conversations about moving to the next phase of expansion. He noted that possessing huge reserves alone would not guarantee future prosperity.
Falade stressed that Nigeria's abundant gas resources must be monetized before the global energy transition progresses further. He compared Nigeria's current LNG production capacity to those of leading producers like Qatar, Australia and Malaysia, stating that Nigeria's capacity remains disproportionately low relative to its enormous proven gas reserves.
