NLNG Marks 37 Years, Generates Over $150 Billion in Revenue
Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has been a major contributor to Nigeria's economy and government revenue, having generated over $150 billion in revenue and exported more than 6,000 liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes worldwide since its inception 37 years ago.
The company's managing director, Adeleye Falade, revealed this during his first media briefing since assuming office on April 1, 2026. He also highlighted the company's performance and future expansion plans, including the completion of Train 7 and preliminary discussions on developing Trains 8, 9, and 10.
NLNG currently operates six liquefaction trains with a combined production capacity of 22 million tonnes per annum, while its Bonny Island facility remains the largest industrial complex in Sub-Saharan Africa. The company also operates a fleet of 22 specialised vessels, comprising 20 LNG carriers, one liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) vessel serving the domestic market, and another vessel dedicated to operational support.
NLNG has become one of Nigeria's largest taxpayers since the expiration of its pioneer tax status, remitting more than $10 billion in taxes to the Federal Government. The company has also paid $47.2 billion in dividends to shareholders and grown its assets to $23 billion.
