NLNG Unveils Plans for Trains 8-10, Aims to Boost Global Position
Nigeria LNG (NLNG) is expanding its liquefied natural gas (LNG) production capacity beyond the ongoing Train 7 project. The company has begun preliminary work on Trains 8, 9, and 10, with a target of increasing production by 35% to around 30 million tonnes per annum.
NLNG Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Adeleye Falade revealed that while the completion of Train 7 remains the company's immediate priority, discussions have started on the next phase of expansion. The proposed projects aim to consolidate Nigeria's position in the global LNG market and unlock greater value from the country's abundant gas resources.
Falade noted that NLNG has generated over $149.6 billion in revenue since commencing operations and distributed almost $50 billion in dividends to shareholders, including the federal government. The company has also become one of Nigeria's highest corporate taxpayers, paying about $10 billion in taxes.
