NNPC Crude Output Rises to 1.67mbpd Amid Criticism
Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has achieved a significant milestone in crude oil production, reaching 1.67 million barrels per day (mbpd) as of April 2026, according to its Monthly Performance Report.
This marks a 6% increase from the previous year's output of 1.60mbpd in April 2025, demonstrating a steady growth trend throughout 2025.
The company also reported a corresponding rise in gas production, with an increase of 5% to 7,729 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) by April 2026 from 7,354 mmscfd in April 2025.
Responding to recent criticisms from the Oil and Gas Professionals Forum (OGPF), NNPC clarified that it operates strictly as a commercial entity and has no regulatory or allocative authority under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.
