NNPC Defends Leadership Amid Allegations of Performance Issues
The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has responded to allegations about its leadership and performance under Group Chief Executive Officer Engineer Bayo Ojulari.
The company denies any wrongdoing, stating that it had no regulatory or allocative role in the recent oil licensing round conducted by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
According to NNPC's Monthly Performance Report, crude oil production has increased under Ojulari's leadership. As of April 2025, average production stood at 1.60 million barrels per day (mbpd), inclusive of condensate, and rose to 1.67 mbpd by April 2026.
The company also reports an increase in gas production, from 7,354 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) in April 2025 to 7,729 mmscfd in April 2026, representing a 5% growth.
