North American LNG Sector Booms Amid Global Demand
The liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector in North America is expanding rapidly, driven by international investments from China and support for more deliveries from the U.S. Gulf Coast.
The U.S. is the world leader in LNG exports, with federal data showing that LNG exports are on pace to increase by around 8% next year.
Cheniere Energy's Corpus Christi LNG export project in south Texas has been cleared to introduce natural gas into its seventh liquefaction unit, and once all seven units are up and running, the facility will be able to produce 10.5 million metric tons per annum (MPTA) of gas in the liquid form.
Australian energy company Woodside's Louisiana LNG facility is 28% completed and first deliveries are expected before the end of the decade, with an export potential of about 5.2 MPTA.
