Northern Arc Ports Dominate Brazil's Corn Export Logistics

Northern Arc ports in Brazil have solidified their position as the country's leading corn export logistics hub, handling 46.12% of all Brazilian corn shipments between January and July 2026, according to Conab's Logistics Bulletin.

This represents a significant increase from the same period last year, when Northern Arc ports accounted for 35.46% of Brazil's corn exports. The growth in corn shipments through these ports has been driven mainly by Barcarena and Santarém, both in Pará state, which saw an increase of 143% and 43%, respectively.

The Port of Itaqui, in Maranhão state, also recorded a rise in corn shipments, from 524,000 to 570,000 metric tons. In contrast, traditional ports such as Paranaguá and São Francisco do Sul experienced declines, with volumes falling by 27% and 65%, respectively.

The increase in Northern Arc's market share comes amid broader growth in Brazilian corn shipments, with exports rising 10.53% year-over-year to 9.83 million metric tons between January and July 2026.
