Northern Ireland Home Heating Oil Prices Soar £98.78 Amid Global Tensions
The price of home heating oil in Northern Ireland has jumped £98.78 (29%) to an average of £445.37 for 500 litres over just three weeks, according to the Consumer Council for Northern Ireland.
About two-thirds of Northern Irish households rely on home heating oil, with prices reaching a four-month high due to global tensions and disruptions in key oil-producing routes.
Raymond Gormley, head of energy policy at the CCNI, attributes the increase to US-Iran negotiations, saying 'prices had reached a four-month low up until the end of June, but since July we have seen prices rise again' due to escalating tensions and disrupted shipping.
