Northern Star Rides Gold Boom to Record Year Amid Boardroom Drama
Northern Star Resources (ASX: NST) rode the gold boom to a record year, with revenue reaching AUD 7.6 billion and net profit after tax of approximately AUD 1.7 billion for the year.
The company's strong numbers were driven by higher realised gold prices, despite lower gold sales. The Fimiston expansion project at its Kalgoorlie operations was completed in Q4 FY26, with net mine cash flow of about AUD 1.2 billion for the quarter.
The company is undergoing a leadership change, with Suresh Vadnagra appointed managing director and chief executive effective October 5, 2026, succeeding long-serving managing director and chief executive Stuart Tonkin. Chairman Michael Chaney AO remains in place.
