Novatek's Arctic LNG 2 Exports Soar Despite Sanctions
Russian natural gas company Novatek and its partners are increasing production and export from their Arctic LNG 2 project, despite being under international sanctions.
The project's fleet of at least 18 tankers has reached a historic high in shipments on the Northern Sea Route, with a significant number connected to Arctic LNG 2.
According to Reuters, tankers have exported over 2.3 million tonnes of LNG from Arctic LNG 2 to the Chinese port of Benhai so far in 2026, with 31 shipments made.
Novatek is also building new carriers, including the Aleksey Kosygin and Konstantin Posiet, which were commissioned at the Zvezda Yard in Russia's Far East in 2025 and 2026.
