NSW Explorers Shine as Copper Prices Reach Record High
New South Wales explorers have been making waves in the mining sector, and some stand out from the pack. Great Divide Mining has become a revenue generator after less than three years of listing, thanks to its brownfields strategy.
The company used historic material already located at surface to begin production without large-scale capex or new mine development. This approach allowed it to progressively optimise plant performance while generating early operating revenue.
Copper prices reached near-record territory in June, touching over US$6.60/lb on strong Chinese demand and supply tightness. However, silver suffered a steep correction, trading down almost half from its January peak at US$120/oz.
