NYMEX Metals Prices Plummet on September 10
On September 10, precious metals prices took a hit on the NYMEX (New York Merchantile Exchange) market. Gold futures plummeted by 1.22% to $4364.50 per troy ounce, while silver futures fell by 7.12% to $63.10. Platinum futures also saw significant losses, dropping by 6.17% to $1775.60.
The NYMEX is a US futures market founded in 1882, with two divisions: the NYMEX Division and the COMEX Division. The former handles trades of oil, gas, platinum, palladium, ethanol, coal, electricity, and carbon dioxide emissions, while the latter deals with gold, silver, copper, and aluminum.
