NYMEX Precious Metals Prices Rise Across the Board
The New York Merchantile Exchange (NYMEX) saw an uptick in precious metals prices on August 21. The price of gold futures rose by 2.39% to $4624.10, while silver futures increased by 2.12% to $69.47. Platinum futures also experienced a gain, rising by 0.86% to $1895.70. These changes are measured in terms of 1 troy ounce (31.1 grams). The NYMEX is a US futures market founded in 1882 and operates through two divisions: the NYMEX Division for trades involving oil, gas, platinum, palladium, ethanol, coal, electricity, and carbon dioxide emissions; and the COMEX Division for gold, silver, copper, and aluminum.
