NYSERDA Weekly Energy Market Report: Global Conflicts Impact Oil Prices
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) released its weekly energy and fuels market report for September 4, 2026. The report highlights that global factors such as the Iran war and Russian-Ukraine conflict, along with domestic factors like seasonal summer temperatures and US economic policy, influenced markets.
Slightly decreased spot prices for West Texas Intermediate (WTI) and Brent crude were still higher than a year earlier. Propane at Mt. Belvieu increased, while natural gas at Henry Hub remained comparable to the previous week.
Regional fuel inventories showed natural gas stocks rising, while total gasoline, propane, and ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) declined week over week. US refining capacity and utilization rose slightly to about 98%, with the East Coast steady near 87%.
