Ohio Gas Prices Skyrocket to Over $4 Per Gallon
Gas prices in Ohio have continued to rise, reaching an average of $4.18 per gallon as of Thursday. This is over a dime higher than the national average of $4.07 and more than $1 per gallon above what motorists were paying a year ago.
The increases are being felt locally, with gasoline prices topping $4 per gallon across much of the Ohio Valley. In Steubenville, regular gasoline was selling for $4.25 per gallon Thursday at the downtown Speedway, while the average price in Jefferson County is around $4.26 per gallon, according to AAA.
BELMONT COUNTY ALSO SEES PRICES ABOVE THE $4 MARK, with the average for regular gasoline approximately $4.18 per gallon. Recent county prices have ranged from about $3.96 to $4.27 per gallon.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said that 'average gasoline prices climbed back above $4 per gallon over the last week' due to rebounding oil prices and ongoing refinery strikes.
