Oil and Gold Markets Enter Critical Juncture
The oil and gold markets are at a critical juncture, with technical levels and macroeconomic data set to dictate near-term direction.
Crude oil futures have been range-bound over the past week, consolidating after recent inventory data showed mixed demand signals. The supply side is driven by OPEC+ production decisions and US shale output, while geopolitical risks in key producing regions add a risk premium that keeps prices from falling sharply.
The Brent and WTI benchmarks are testing support levels of $82-$86 and $78-$82 respectively. A break below these could trigger further downside, while a sustained move above resistance at $84 (WTI) and $88 (Brent) would signal renewed bullish momentum.
On the other hand, gold has maintained its upward bias, hovering near recent highs as investors seek safety amid persistent inflation concerns and geopolitical tensions. Central bank purchases continue to provide a structural floor under prices, with support around $2,350 per ounce and resistance at $2,400.
