Oil Executive Cheers on Iran War Profits Amidst Widespread Criticism
A recent AP-NORC poll found that only 3 out of 10 Americans approve of how President Trump is handling the Iran war, while 64% think it has not been worth fighting.
An oil executive who remains anonymous in a USA Today opinion piece believes this criticism is misplaced. They claim their own industry's profits have soared as a result of the conflict, with Chevron reporting $12.1 billion in earnings between April and June, up from $2.5 billion over the same period last year.
ExxonMobil earned $14.5 billion during this time frame, more than double its earnings from the previous year. The executive attributes these high profits to the increased demand for oil resulting from the Iran war.
