Oil India Drives Shift Towards Gas-Based Economy Amid Resilient Financial Performance
Oil India Limited is transforming into an integrated Maharatna central public sector enterprise under the leadership of Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Ranjit Rath. The company has been steadily shifting its focus towards becoming a gas-based economy.
In 2025-26, Oil India's consolidated financial performance remained resilient despite softening crude oil prices from $78-$69 per barrel. The company posted a consolidated income of approximately Rs 389.81 billion, demonstrating a 3 per cent year-on-year growth. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) and profit after tax (PAT) grew at a rate of 5 per cent and 7 per cent respectively.
Oil India's production efforts were affected by an economic blockade in one of its primary areas of operation. The disruption resulted in an estimated opportunity loss of 0.1 mmt of crude oil and 0.3 bcm of natural gas.
