Oil Nears $100 as Yemen Conflict Escalates and Yen Surges
Oil prices have surged to nearly $100 a barrel following fresh attacks by Houthi rebels on Saudi Arabia in Yemen.
The market has been spooked, with European equities and US equity futures down as a result of the oil price rise, according to Kathleen Brooks, research director at XTB.
Meanwhile, the Japanese yen has appreciated against the dollar, reaching 152.89 briefly before settling above 154 yen to the dollar.
