Oil Pollution Escalates Tensions Between US, Israel, and Iran
The ongoing conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran has taken a new turn as environmental concerns have joined the list of tensions in the region. Oil pollution has been reported on Qeshm Island, off the coast of Iran, following an oil spill from the tanker Caroline Bezengi, which ran aground near Oman.
The Iranian authorities have stated that oil contamination has occurred on some areas along the coast of Qeshm Island and have cited environmental degradation in the context of the ongoing military showdown. The incident has further underscored the need for Iran to establish a mechanism for managing the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, two vessels owned by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) were attacked while sailing through the strategically important waterbody on Thursday. According to ADNOC, there have been no reports of any injuries and the situation has been controlled.
