Oil Price Drop Sends Norwegian Krone Plummeting Amid Ongoing Conflict
The recent decline in oil and gas prices has had a significant impact on the Norwegian krone, causing it to drop almost to the bottom of currency rankings. The decrease is attributed to the cessation of attacks between the USA and Iran, which has led to a halt in hostilities.
According to US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz, bombardments have ceased due to depleting targets and ammunition stocks. Donald Trump stated that talks with Iran are ongoing, and if they fail, the USA will 'return to what it was doing.'
The Iranian MFA spokesperson Esmail Baghaei claims there is currently no direct dialogue between officials from Iran and the USA. However, Tehran has declared it will halt retaliation 'as long as the USA maintains the pause,' and is conducting talks with Oman to establish 'mechanisms regarding maritime traffic' in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait remains de facto closed, with ship traffic limited to a maximum of a dozen or so daily. The parties remain far from an agreement on uranium enrichment, and Yemeni Houthis have joined the fight, carrying out attacks on Saudi Aramco's oil infrastructure.
