Oil Price Drop Sparks Rally on Wall Street Amid Inflation Worries

The U.S. stock market saw significant gains on Monday, with the S&P 500 jumping 1.5% and nearing its all-time high. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed to an all-time high, up 693 points or 1.3%. The rally was largely driven by a drop in oil prices, which fell 4.7% to $83.77 per barrel after President Donald Trump announced he would hold off on new strikes against Iran at the urging of regional allies.

The easing of oil price concerns helped calm worries about inflation and its potential impact on the economy. This led to a decline in Treasury yields, which fell to 4.68% from 4.75% late Friday. The decrease in yields is a positive sign for stocks, as higher yields can threaten prices by making borrowing more expensive.

Airlines and companies with high fuel costs saw significant gains on Monday, led by United Airlines' 5.8% increase and American Airlines' 5% rise. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings also jumped 6.6%. Boeing's stock surged 8% after the company's 737 MAX-7 planes were certified for commercial service.

Other companies that reported strong profits included Tyson Foods, which rose 2.8% after beating analyst expectations. The meat company attributed its success to a strong chicken business and prepared foods segment.
